While Spring Break in the Rio Grande Valley is widely considered a time to vacation or take time away from school and studies; in the pest control industry the first couple weeks of March usually brings in an abundance of pest related calls and inquiries. As Spring begins to move its way towards Summer, make sure to keep an eye out for potential Flea issues in and around your home.

What to look for:

Check any pets living inside or outside of your home for signs of fleas or ticks. Make sure to check around ears and the underside of their belly, as these areas are hot spots to fleas.

Vacuum carpeting indoors: When inside your home, fleas will lay their eggs deep in the fibers of carpeting. Vibrations from the vacuum will force dormant eggs to hatch, and the vacuum can lift eggs from the carpet before they have the ability to hatch and mature. Remember to always empty vacuum contents outside of the home.

Keep your grass short: Like the vacuum, a mowers vibrations will force flea eggs to hatch and keeping a short lawn will deter fleas and ticks from harboring in your lawn.

An easy trick to "test" for the presence of fleas is to wear a pair of white calf high socks and spend about 10 min inside and then outside of your home. If an infestation is present you should notice multiple small fleas on your socks. Although we know this is not going to be very "fashionable" unless your a middle aged father of two; this is a great way to identify your flea issue quickly!

Please remember that fleas are capable of spreading fleaborne diseases so we highly recommend contacting a professional Pest Control company (Such as us!) at the first sight of any flea infestations.

General Manager Welcomes You!

https://www.midvalleypestcontrol.com/blog/general-manager-welcomes-you

https://www.midvalleypestcontrol.com/blog/general-manager-welcomes-you#comments

YouTube

      [...]

Rain or Shine: The Solution is Granules

https://www.midvalleypestcontrol.com/blog/rain-or-shine-the-solution-is-granules

https://www.midvalleypestcontrol.com/blog/rain-or-shine-the-solution-is-granules#comments

Granules

Welcome! Our topic for today will be about our crazy weather here in the Rio Grande Valley! A lot of the times we rather not get pest control because we feel like the rain is going to mess you up, but in reality, MID VALLEY PEST CONTROL has an easy solution when it comes to that. It's a sunny, beautiful day in the Rio Grande Valley and you are waiting for our technician to arrive at your home to get a pest control service. But wait! Tim Smith, Meteorologist has just confir [...]

But wait! Tim Smith, Meteorologist has just confirmed a slight chance that it could rain around the time that we had scheduled you. So what do you do? You call us and you tell us that you would rather cancel the service because it's going to rain. We tell you that as long as it's sprinkling we can go ahead and do the service and here's why:

We use a type of product called Granules, or as I call them, "Bursts of Chemicals". Every time we go spray your home for a general pest control, we use our seed spreader and spread the granules right before we are going to spray your lawn. What the granules do, is they help give a little bit more pesticides on your lawn to protect you from roaches, ants, spiders, silverfish, ticks, and fleas. The awesome thing about these bursts of chemicals, is that every time you water your lawn, or right after we spray your lawn, it releases these pesticides for an added level of extra protection for your home.

So we get to your home to spray the service and about 30 minutes after we leave it starts raining, but you're not worried! Why? Because we put granules down on your lawn and now you're getting even MORE for what you paid for! Do not think that you can just use this and be over with it, it's always best to follow with what your pest control company says with the pest control procedure.

That's the great thing about MID VALLEY PEST CONTROL, that we make sure to let you know ahead of time exactly what we are doing ahead of time. So it's finally settled, as long as it's sprinkling out, we will go ahead and spread the granules in your lawn and even if it rains, it's an extra layer of pesticides.

On a side note, when we do use this type of product, we always want to make sure the customer knows that the lawn needs to be cut before we do the service. This is to ensure that the granule-base product gets deep in the soil enough for us to control the pests that you are having a problem with, whether that be roaches, ants, spiders, silverfish, fleas, or ticks. As we always claim that no product is guaranteed safe, but we may answer any other questions that may arise.

If you would like to schedule an appointment, please give us a call at MID VALLEY PEST CONTROL, (956) 383-2651 during business hours:
Monday - Friday 8:00 AM -5:00 PM & Saturday 8:00 AM -12:00 PM

Thank you for reading!

Brittany Campos,
MID VALLEY PEST CONTROL
P: 956.383.2651 F: 956.287.7717

*Feel free to contact us by email: midvalleypestcontrol@gmail.com if you have any questions and one of our office managers will reply within the hour.

Termites, Termites, Oh My!

https://www.midvalleypestcontrol.com/blog/termites-termites-oh-my

https://www.midvalleypestcontrol.com/blog/termites-termites-oh-my#comments

Termites

Welcome and today we are talking about TERMITES!There are actually many different types of termites, but for today we will only talk about Subterranean Termites (these are the ones that you'll see in your home most of the time down here in the Rio Grande Valley). The number one important thing that here at MID VALLEY PEST CONTROL try to protect, is your home. You made an investment to purchase a beautiful home, so why are you going to let Subterranean Termites take control? Here are s [...]

Welcome and today we are talking about TERMITES!

There are actually many different types of termites, but for today we will only talk about Subterranean Termites (these are the ones that you'll see in your home most of the time down here in the Rio Grande Valley).

The number one important thing that here at MID VALLEY PEST CONTROL try to protect, is your home. You made an investment to purchase a beautiful home, so why are you going to let Subterranean Termites take control? Here are some basic information on how to spot if you have termites:

Subterranean Termites create "mud tubes" on the outside of your home and inside of your home leading up to the ceiling at times (this is for them to gain access on food, which if untreated can create a colony up to 2 million or more), they can also be around the bathroom (contact with water and soil)
Worker Subterranean Termites (Cream-Yellow Color): 1/8 to 3/8 of an inch
Soldier Subterranean Termites (Cream Color with Brown heads): About the same size as Work S.T.

Reproductive Subterranean Termites: 1 inch long
Subterranean Termites need soil in order to survive, which is why you will see the tunnels ("mud tubes") along the sides of your home, because they bring the soil from the ground and keep it secure inside your home. YES, these termites are living inside your home, where you sleep, eat, and live a comfortable life. These Subterranean Termites will be around all-year, and we do get the calls for them on a daily basis.

A good way to protect your home is to give us a call and set up a free inspection so you can see if you have termites or not. Remember that you can see these "mud tubes" in the walls and even on the outside of your home, and also in the concrete. These Subterranean Termites will stop at nothing! Unless if you call MID VALLEY PEST CONTROL.

Companies will charge anywhere from $400 to $5,000 or more just to treat your home for the Subterranean Termites. To treat this problem companies will trench, drill, and more in order to protect you from Subterranean Termites. Did you know that they are so powerful that they can actually collapse an entire building or your home? It's that serious.

Here at MID VALLEY PEST CONTROL, we give you a promise. A promise that we will try to help out in any way that we can. One way to help you, as a homeowner out, is to provide you with certain things when you do get a termite service with us:
The technician will go out to your home and provide you with a diagram where we will treat your problem, he will then give you a quote and sometimes provide you with a free pest control service
You can think about it and discuss with your family. When you're ready, you give us a call back to our friendly Office Managers and they can set up a date that works out for you. Now remember, you are paying money for quality service, so sometimes we can give you a 1 YEAR GUARANTEE on this termite service
Which means you can calls us back if you start to see the Subterranean Termites again on the treated areas only within the year, now here's the good part -->
After the year is over, we provide a guaranteed termite protection plan, where we will give you a call and ask if you would like a Termite Renewal.
Now by TDA law, we cannot put down any Termiticide chemical if you do not have any termites, but we still give you this Termite Renewal Plan: You can renew for a certain price (which is ALWAYS less than what you actually paid for), and you'll be guaranteed for another year! How awesome is that!
So if you feel you have termites, or another company has already confirmed that you have Subterranean Termites in your home, give us a try! Remember, we do have free inspections! And we provide Termite Renewal plans after you get your termite service done :)

Give us a call at 956-383-2651, and speak to our Office Managers to schedule your free inspection and get your free quote today!

MID VALLEY PEST CONTROL

*Serving pest control in Rio Grande Valley: Edinburg, Pharr, McAllen, Sharyland, Hidalgo, Mission, San Juan, Alamo, Donna, Weslaco, Mercedes, Edcouch, Elsa, Monte Alto, La Villa, San Manuel, McCook, Las Milpas

UNIVAR hosts Pest Control Seminar in the RGV

https://www.midvalleypestcontrol.com/blog/univar-hosts-pest-control-seminar-in-the-rgv

https://www.midvalleypestcontrol.com/blog/univar-hosts-pest-control-seminar-in-the-rgv#comments

Seminar

Welcome again!Today I am talking about the pest control seminar that UNIVAR hosted at the RGV Livestock Grounds in Mercedes, TX. First off, I would like to point out that nobody is paying me to review this seminar, or am I a representative of UNIVAR in any way.The first power point presentation was covering the topic about mainly Lawn and Ornamental Pest Control. This usually deals with anything that pest control technicians cover on golf courses, parks, cemeteries, etc. The ma [...]

Welcome again!

Today I am talking about the pest control seminar that UNIVAR hosted at the RGV Livestock Grounds in Mercedes, TX. First off, I would like to point out that nobody is paying me to review this seminar, or am I a representative of UNIVAR in any way.

The first power point presentation was covering the topic about mainly Lawn and Ornamental Pest Control. This usually deals with anything that pest control technicians cover on golf courses, parks, cemeteries, etc. The majority of this topic was about nuisance ants and the biology structure of the ants and different types of methods that you can use to spray the mounds in a certain manner. If you are a Lawn & Ornamental technician, this was the topic that was mainly for you, and if you wanted to widen your knowledge about ants like (raspberry/tawny ants in example) you were able to learn how to distinguish the different structures of them as well.

The second power point presentation was conducted by Creig Manson, his topic was more related on Rodents and the different types of ways to treat them. Creig Manson is a speaker that can wake you up at 9:00 in the morning, considering that this Seminar does start at 7 in the morning! He gave his hierarchy of who is on top of the chain when it comes to the pest control industry (in example the customer being the number on and manufacturers being the last on the chain). He was a good speaker in the way that he demonstrated with rubber rodents the way they feed and how they don't have the best visual.

The third power point presentation consisted on IPM and was conducted by Janet who is a representative of Texas A&M. She did mention that she is working a lot with schools and that is what her power point presentation consisted mainly about. A lot of the information is very useful when it comes if you want to be treating public schools, colleges, etc. There are many restrictions that by law you cannot spray or use different types of methods, so this is the person that you really wanted to pay attention to if you were interested in getting in this type of business. I know that MID VALLEY PEST CONTROL treats certain schools and there are rules that we have to follow. If by law we cannot spray something, maybe the IPM Method is something that would be useful for you company. (*Sorry I cannot provide much more information on this, but you can always research IPM Schools, they train technicians and give in-depth detail on this type of information.)

The last power point presentation consisted of General Ants. If you wanted to know the physical anatomy of ants, biology structure, and scientific names, this power point would clear that up on (Ghost Ants, Raspberry/Tawny Ants, Carpenter Ants, Etc.).

My Review on this UNIVAR SEMINAR:

Overall, I loved this seminar, and I don't mind going again. It got right to the point and the people there were really friendly. If you are doing pest control in the RGV area (even all the way to Corpus Christi area), then you would want to go ahead and come to this seminar, because you get to mingle with other pest control companies that are from your area. They do serve a BBQ type of food during lunch and continue with power point presentations for other areas (which I didn't stay because I was only there for the main pest control information).

Another thing that I wanted to mention, is that UNIVAR is located on 125 N. G. St, Harlingen, TX and they distribute pest control chemicals and equipment for your pest control company. This is the main company that we use out here in South Texas and I am completely satisfied with the way that they perform their jobs. Usually the main person you here from goes by the last name of Mr. Cano, he is friendly and will help you out if you need anything. So give them a call for your pest control chemical needs!

And that about wraps it up for today, I will try to post youtube videos by the upcoming week on pest control information that I will research myself and try to provide as much as I can. *I might post a blog information on what the youtube videos will consist of and what topics I will want to cover and by when. Since it's a lot of information, I will probably upload 1 video every week and a half, but I will have to check on that. Hope you guys enjoyed this post, and be here for the next post which I want to cover about on ROACHES.

Brittany Campos, MID VALLEY PEST CONTROL

Summer Time

https://www.midvalleypestcontrol.com/blog/summer-time

https://www.midvalleypestcontrol.com/blog/summer-time#comments

Fleas

Ticks

This is the perfect time to service your home for pest control if you are interested. The kids are out for summer and that means it's time to service for fleas, ticks, and maybe even mosquitoes!

Right now, we have been getting a lot of calls for fleas and ticks. If you ever have had another pest control company, you know that fleas and ticks are really hard to get under control. In fact, fleas and ticks have a two week egg cycle, which means, if we only go one time and spray for that, expect to see the eggs hatch in the next two weeks. You might be thinking, well why weren't they rid of the first time? When we go out and spray, the chemical and growth regulators make the eggs that the fleas/ticks hatched immune.

So that's the reason that you need a second service (which by then we would've given you a 30 day guarantee.)

So how does the service for fleas and ticks work?

For fleas and ticks, we go ahead and spray the entire floor of your home. For ticks, they love nesting in confined spaces, so we need to spray any cracks and crevices we see. Another thing, if you have carpets, that's where you're going to see a lot of your problems, they love nesting in cool areas. So, we always ask our customers to go ahead and vacuum any carpet areas, and that goes the same for cutting the yard.

Why is cutting the yard necessary? Eggs hatch with vibration, so cutting the yard automatically hatches all of those babies, and that means, we can kill more fleas and ticks, which means, you get more for your money and for us to take care of the problem the first time.

Even though we are taking all of these precautions to get rid of the problem for you, the 2nd visit is necessary in order to get those few that we didn't get rid of the first time.

If you have any pets, you need to go ahead and dip them in a regular fleas/tick removal shampoo, we don't want the problem to continue.

If you have any questions, or you want to get serviced, give us a call on our contact information!

Brittany Campos, MID VALLEY PEST CONTROL
